Jasper-Wide Servers Against AIDS Day a Roaring Success!

Our first ever Jasper-wide Servers Against AIDS Day, organized by volunteers at HIV West Yellowhead under the leadership of Kelly Skehill, was a total success! Greatly exceeding anyone's expectations for the event, servers from about eight restaurants in Jasper donated more than $5000.00! At one particular establishment, the manager matched the $964.00 donated by servers. Half of this money will go towards The Stephen Lewis Foundation and the other half towards HIV West Yellowhead, our regional HIV/AIDS service. We are so excited to partner with HIV West Yellowhead and include a local focus in our effort to ease the pain of HIV/AIDS.

Many thanks to Kelly and the volunteers at HIV West Yellowhead!

Results from AIDS Climbing Week

AIDS Climbing Week has come to a close and I am happy to announce that our staff have climbed 34 peaks! The week of hiking and mountain climbing raised approximately $1300 for The Stephen Lewis Foundation, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and the hard work of our climbers. But the positive outcome does not end there: Num-Ti-Jah Staff overcame numerous challenges to climb peaks for the cause this week. While working full-time, the staff took their precious ‘time off’ to climb amidst mostly rain and windy conditions. As well, for many of our staff members climbing peaks was a new activity, but they took on the challenge and courageously made it to the top, overcoming some fears and learning a lot about themselves in the process.

The 34 peaks included the following:

Mount Jimmy Simpson Sr.
Mount Jimmy Simpson Jr.
Little Crowfoot
Bow Peak
Cirque Peak
Mount Rundle
Bobac Mountain
Watermelon Peak – 5th ascent recorded in history
Marmot Mountain – 4th ascent recorded in history

Climbing for the SLF has Begun!!!

AIDS Climbing Week has kicked off in full gear! Collectively, Num-Ti-Jah staff have climbed 8 peaks so far. With 4 more days of climbing left, the 'Peak-O-Meter' is sure to go up! Besides working full time, the staff are eagerly planning trips for later on this week. Tune in next week to see the complete results of our fundraising efforts.

Event Approaching

Our annual AIDS Climbing Week is quickly approaching! July 14-20, Num-Ti-Jah staff will be climbing peaks for the cause. Thanks to our generous sponsors, each peak climbed by each staff member during that week will provide $25 to the SLF. We are excited to see our staff enjoying the outdoors and additionally raising funds for an important cause. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for staff, please let us know! The week of climbing will be capped off with our second Servers Against AIDS Day on July 20th, an event in which servers in Jasper will also be participating.
